South Dakota Spider Control

About South Dakota Spiders:  Several dozen types of spiders are common in South Dakota. There are a few common spiders that you can see through out the state of South Dakota. They are the Western Black Widow, House Spider, Wolf Spider and the Brown Recluse Spider just to name a few.

Western Black Widow Spider are usually found in undisturbed places like wood piles, outhouses, underneath debris. The web is usually near the ground.

The House Spider constructs webs in corners and areas of little traffic such as basements. They like to hunt prey along window sills, walls or floors.

The Wolf Spider is one skilled hunter. They live mostly solitary lives and hunt alone. Some are opportunistic wanderer hunters, pouncing upon prey as they find it or chasing it over short distances. Others lie in wait for passing prey, often from or near the mouth of a burrow. Wolf spiders will inject venom freely if continually provoked.

The Brown Recluse Spider are found in South Dakota, and great care should be taken to avoid them. The Brown Recluse will normally bite only if they somehow wind up in your clothes and are pressed against your skin.
